Justin DeVine is an illustrator, graphic designer, and beard-grower. Originally from the West Coast, he now resides in the Upper Midwest with his wife—the watercolor artist and animal advocate, Megan Lynn Kott—along with too many cats. He likes bugs, the ocean, haunted houses, brush pens, unnecessarily long lists, and oxford commas. He dislikes insurance ads and talking about himself in the third person.

Some notable clients of his include Patagonia Provisions, Amy’s Kitchen, Forterra NW, Old Navy, Rise Dispensaries, Belcampo Meat Co, and Whole Foods Market. He’s also created artwork for the podcasts the West Wing Weekly, Deep Night with Dale, and Scary Thoughts; bands Moors and the Peculiar Pretzelmen; singer-songwriter Zoe Boekbinder, animal activist Hannah Shaw (aka the Kitten Lady) and TV’s Adam Savage.

In 2012, Justin and Megan co-founded the weekly meetup group Oakland Drink and Draw, and the two ran the group until their move in mid-2016. During that same period, the pair curated several group art shows in the San Francisco Bay Area, including the David Bowie tribute show “Moonage Daydream” in early 2016. They also co-wrote/illustrated a book, Unfamiliar Familiars, which was published by Chronicle Books in 2020. In 2019, he founded the ongoing fanart blog Drawn to Culture, which posts weekly illustrated pop culture recommendations.

He also once had dinner with Neil Gaiman and is basically never going to get over it.
